Homeless Population Security Service
Since 2017 Star Pro Security has provided security services to various shelters throughout Southern California. Currently we service shelters in both Orange and San Diego County. These shelters provide housing and comprehensive supportive services for a variety of homeless populations which includes families, adult men and women, mothers and their children, persons living with HIV/AIDS, individuals overcoming substance addictions, and some who are physically and mentally disabled.
Through the years of working in shelter settings and dealing with the unhoused Star Pro Security has identified a critical need for investment in training our officers in the skills needed in this environment.
We developed training standards that include how to speak to those with mental health issues. This tends to be a large reason for situations that escalate at shelters. It is an art and a craft to make those that are unhoused, hungry, angry, scared, have ADD/ADHD and even addiction comfortable with a person in a uniform. Officers in a uniform are often met with a great deal of resistance. Out officers are well trained in de-escalation, talking people down with a respectful and dignified tone.
We take great pride in our ability to ensure compliance with shelter rules and create a safe place for residents and staff.
